Fresh water scarcity is one of the most pressing and concerning problems the world is facing. It is estimated by the United Nations and its different aid organizations that some nine hundred million people lack access to fresh water. Most of the people suffering from the water shortage reside in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The water shortage causes severe consequences including fatal health problems as well as diminished time for productive work and education leading to further poverty. The growing competition to consume the limited available fresh water will escalate and contribute to unrest and tension between communities and nations making the problem a concern to the entire human race.
