What is Water Scarcity ?

Water is an essential resource for life and good health. Water Scarcityis the lack of access to adequate quantities of water for human and environmental use.

What are some of the main consequences of Water Scarcity ?

Water scarcity forces people to rely on unsafe sources of drinking water. It also means they cannot bathe or clean their clothes or homes properly. Poor water quality increases the risk of such diarrhoeal diseases as cholera, typhoid fever and dysentery, and other water-borne infections. Water scarcity can lead to diseases such as trachoma (an eye infection that can lead to blindness), plague and typhus.

How big is the fresh water shortage ?

It is estimated by the US that some 750 million people from 45 countries suffer today from water scarcity.

Is the fresh water crisis on track to being resolved ?

Unfortunately NO!, It is estimated that by 2025, 800 million people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and that two-thirds of the world population could be under stress conditions.

What are some of the solutions and steps taken to rectify the problem ?

Several actions are being take to increasing fresh water availability including: 

  • Increase efficacy of water utilization (diminish water waste)
  • Better management of fresh water sources to reduce contamination
  • Recycle and reuse of gray water
  • Enlarge the water sources by deploying new technologies 
  • Techniques of treatment to allow the conversion of non drinking water to fresh clean water.

I live in a country that has plenty of fresh water, should I be concern by the water crises ?

It is a consensus among all analysts  that the number if people lacking access to fresh water will increase in the coming years. The growing competition to consume the limited available fresh water will escalate and contribute to unrest and tension between communities and nations making the problem a concern to the entire human race.

How does the SunDwater solution work?

Salt water and/or contaminated water are pumped into the unit. A parabolic dish reflects sun rays on the water boiler, the water in the boiler heats up until evaporation takes place, the vapors flow out of the system and are condensed back into potable water. Process is recursive, as vapors flow out new water is pumped into the system. The unit can treat several hundred liters of water per day.
